  1. Johann Sebastian BACH () The Well-Tempered Clavier Book I, BWV [] Book II, BWV [] and the fugues vibrant and alive. Bob van Asperen is also very fine on the Virgin Classics label, with a nicely sonorous sound, a good sense of sustain, superb articulation and plenty of variety in terms of tempi.
  2. This is the most recent, and economical, repackaging of Van Asperen's Bach recordings, now as 6 discs in a trim box. The performances are done on 2 historic harpsichords. The sound is clear, balanced and unmarred by acoustical interference from a too 'live' room/5(9).
  3. Bach on the harpsichord isn't always the easiest thing to listen to. But these CDs are just lovely. Prefer piano, but when I have my harpsichord urges, Bob van Asperen's and Gustav Leonhardt's recordings are the ones I reach for. (Haven't settled on a French Suites performer yet.)/5(8).

  6. Nov 17,  · Gould's interpretation of Bach's music is well-known and there's no exeption with this album. I have two versions of Well-Tempered Clavier, one is played by Sviatoslav Richter, and the other by Gould. Frankly, Richter's version is great, too. Maybe I will call Richter's version fantastic and Gould's version colourful/5(45).
